180px-Southern Comfort

Southern Comfort is a peach-flavored whiskey liqueur created in New Orleans and is popular in the Southern United States.

Southern Comfort is made from neutral spirits with fruit, spice and whiskey flavorings. The brand was originally created by bartender Martin Wilkes Heron in New Orleans in 1874, and is now owned by the Brown-Forman Corporation. Although the original product contained whiskey, the current formula for Southern Comfort only contains whiskey-tasting flavoring rather than actual whiskey, except for the premium version called "Special Reserve".

In the US, Southern Comfort is available as 100 US proof (50% alcohol by volume), 70 US proof (35% abv) and 42 US proof (21% abv).

Varieties[]

  • Southern Comfort Special Reserve is an 80 US proof (40% abv) blend of Southern Comfort and Bourbon.
  • Southern Comfort Lime is 55 proof (27.5% abv in the US and 20% abv in the UK)
  • Southern Comfort Bold Black Cherry is 70 proof (35% abv).
