Maraschino is a distilled liqueur from the city of Zadar in the Croatian region of Dalmatia.
The liqueur is obtained from the distillation of the slightly sour Marasca cherries, which grow wild along parts of the Dalmatian coast and lend the liqueur its unique aroma.
