The Vinegar Cocktail is a beautifully balanced mix of sweet and sour that is both intriguing and sophisticated.

Experiment with different types of gin, tea, sweeteners (try it with molasses!), and vinegar, such as balsamic (adjust sweetener to vinegar ratio), wine, malt or even tarragon.



  1. Combine gin, maple syrup (or honey) and vinegar in a cocktail shaker with ONE ice cube[2]
  2. Shake well
  3. Add gin and plenty of ice
  4. Shake until well chilled
  5. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass
  6. Serve


  1. Use only REAL maple syrup, not the "maple-flavored" syrup sold for pancakes; if in doubt, read the ingredient list.
  2. This ice cube is there ONLY to help mix the ingredients, much like a steel ball in a paint bottle.
